Lumen Law Center is headed to New Orleans for NELA’s Annual Convention, June 24–27, 2026.

Founder Andi Mazingo will be speaking on “Trauma Informed Deposition Preparation and Practice.” Depositions can be one of the most stressful parts of an employment case--or any case--especially for clients who’ve experienced harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or any other human rights abuse. A trauma-informed approach helps attorneys prepare clients effectively while minimizing harm and supporting clearer, more confident testimony.

Andi developed her trauma-informed approach through designing and leading an interdisciplinary, nonprofit family reunification legal team focused on overcoming systemic barriers to formerly incarcerated women reuniting with their children. She has observed that--even for plaintiffs prosecuting employment claims--group support, social work, resources for stability and health, and consciousness practices all can contribute to the best possible case outcome.

Andi will be sharing strategies drawn from professional and lived experience, as well as practical, interdisciplinary tips for immediate nervous-system and heart rate regulation and longer-term awareness, memory recall, and somatic healing.

If you’ll be at NELA, we hope to see you there.

Please note that, in addition to this upcoming event, on March 21-22, 2026, Lumen Law Center's Founder Andi Mazingo will be speaking at NELA’s Spring Seminar in Chicago, IL as part of the panel “What’s Next: AI’s Impact on Workers & the Law.”
