When “AI Strategy” Becomes a Human Cost

Today, news broke that a social media giant carried out another round of layoffs, reportedly tied to a shift in AI strategy. These announcements often arrive wrapped in clean narratives about innovation and efficiency—but in our practice, we don’t have the luxury of accepting those stories at face value.


What we do know, intimately, is how disorienting and destabilizing these decisions can be for the people impacted. Careers are interrupted. Identities are shaken. Trust is strained. And the human cost is frequently obscured by high-level language about priorities and progress.


Today, we want to say this clearly: we see you. We understand how unfair and derailing moments like this can feel. And we stand in support and alignment with the employees navigating the aftermath of decisions they did not make.
